Frequently Asked Questions

Singing Sands is an annual folk music and cultural festival that is organised in Dundlod, located in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan.

This unique festival brings together a mix of experiences, including folk music and dance performances by traditional artists, heritage walks through the charming village of Dundlod, DIY craft sessions, authentic Rajasthani cuisine, storytelling sessions, interactive music workshops, and a visit to the world-renowned Dundlod Stud Farm.

With its thoughtfully curated design, scenic venue, and the region’s pleasant weather, Singing Sands stands as an unforgettable getaway—a cultural experience like no other.

Dundlod is a quaint and historic village located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. It is just a 3-hour drive from Jaipur and about 5 hours from Delhi – even less from Gurugram and the international airport.

Singing Sands takes place in the 1750s fortress of Dundlod, once the seat of the erstwhile royal family, a part of which is their residence even today.

Shekhawati is a culturally rich region in northeastern Rajasthan, easily accessible by road from both Jaipur and Delhi. The region is world-renowned for its beautifully painted havelis (mansions), community wells, cenotaphs, and historic memorials spread across numerous villages and towns.

Every year, thousands of tourists visit Shekhawati to experience its unique heritage and architecture. The area also offers a range of excellent accommodation options, from elegant heritage properties to modern hotels.

Singing Sands usually starts on Friday late afternoon with a music concert and the celebration continues till Sunday morning, bringing together a mix of experiences, performances, and cultural moments before ending with lasting memories and heartfelt connections.

The dates for the upcoming edition of the festival are yet to be announced.

The Venue
No auditoriums, no amphitheatres—every experience at Singing Sands takes place in the heritage and natural settings of Dundlod village. From the terraces and courtyards of the historic fort to open farms and rustic backdrops, the entire festival is deeply rooted in its surroundings.

The Design
Singing Sands is thoughtfully curated to offer immersive and intimate experiences. The number of guests is deliberately kept limited and exclusive, ensuring meaningful connections. There are no elevated stages to separate musicians from the audience. Instead, you're part of the performance. With hands-on activities and interactive sessions, you're not just attending a festival—you are the festival.

The Variety
Over the course of the festival, you'll enjoy an extraordinary mix of folk music, craft, heritage walks, traditional cuisine, and equine culture - a celebration of Rajasthan’s rich and diverse traditions.

The Authenticity
Musicians, artisans, performers, and chefs will travel from various regions of Rajasthan—and beyond—to bring their living traditions to life. These are master practitioners from communities that have preserved their art for generations, ensuring that every performance and experience is genuine, heartfelt, and deeply rooted in culture.

The festival is open to all!
You can attend Singing Sands by purchasing a Festival Pass.

And if you're attending solo, rest assured—you’ll leave with friends for life.

Singing Sands is organised by Dancing Peacock, a Jaipur-based company specializing in creating folk music concerts and immersive musical and cultural experiences.

The company was honoured to design musical experiences for the G20 delegates during India’s presidency in 2022-23. Among its notable achievements is the creation of the first-ever Hawa Mahal Festival, designed as a vibrant street carnival held at the iconic monument in the Pink City.
